Last week, President Donald Trump announced that he was officially declaring the opioid epidemic to be a public health emergency. In that proclamation, he said he would take steps to end the out-of-control number of deaths and overdoses due to opioid drugs.

Last year, Barack Obama announced that he was taking steps to stop the opioid epidemic but nothing really happened to stop the epidemic. In reality, Obama and his fellow neo-coms (new communists = Democrats) are the ones largely to blame for the epidemic and skyrocketing deaths.

After Trump’s announcements, many congressional new-coms condemned Trump’s statement because he didn’t specify any funding to carry out his efforts to curb the opioid epidemic. They are also fixated on pointing a lot of the blame on drug companies who produce prescription opioid medications.

Yet, prescription drugs are NOT the main problem – it’s the illegal opioid drugs that have been freely crossing the US border from Mexico during the Obama administration and Democratic control. I live in northern Kentucky, just south of Cincinnati and this area is one of the areas identified as having the highest number of overdose cases. The vast majority of these overdose cases are not the result of prescription drugs, but from heroin and heroin laced with fentanyl, most of which comes the illegal drug trafficking crossing the border.

According to the Center for Disease Controls, US overdose deaths took a sharp rise between 2010 and 2014 during the years of Obama and Democrats controlling Congress. Yes, Republicans took control of the House in 2010, but they were led by an inept leader in John Boehner, who continually caved into Democrats’ extortion tactics.

Under Obama and the Democrats, the US border with Mexico was largely left unsecured, with vast stretches of the border serving as an open door for illegal immigration and drug trafficking. It wasn’t uncommon for the drug traffickers to force illegals to carry their drugs while crossing the border into the US.

Ranchers along the southern border often reported large groups of illegal immigrants crossing into the US and traveling across their ranches. They also reported that a number of illegal immigrants were carrying large backpacks filled with drugs. Sometimes, Border Patrol agents would eventually arrive, but in the majority of cases, they either didn’t respond or they responded too late to catch the drug trafficking.

Former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer frequently asked for federal help in securing the border, but she got no help. She invited Obama to visit the border with her to witness the problem first hand, but he refused, often saying that there really wasn’t a problem.

Yet, one rancher I know of, reported being shot at by drug traffickers on a number of occasions. The situation on his ranch got so dangerous that he sent his wife and kids to live with family further north in the state. He and his ranch hands were armed at all times and never travelled or worked on the ranch alone, but they stayed in pairs or groups. After having several vehicles stolen by illegals and drug traffickers, he bought several guard dogs and kept a loaded gun next to his bed and another under his pillow.

Yet, Obama continued to say that there really wasn’t a problem.

Areas in southern Arizona became so dangerous, due to the illegal drug trafficking, that the state began erecting signs warning of the dangers. Those signs were placed along a number of roads up to 50-100 miles north of the border.

Now, President Trump wants to build a border fence or wall to help secure the border, but Democrats have fought against it at every opportunity they have. These Democrats claim they want to stop the opioid epidemic, yet they fight against securing the border to help stop the flow of drugs into the United States.

Everyone says the border wall is too expensive, but no one is listening to a suggestion that could cut the labor cost for the wall by over half. We have military construction teams building airports, infrastructure and other facilities in other countries. These service men and women are already getting paid, so why not have them build the border wall. This would cut the cost of the wall by half, but no one in Washington is listening.

Until the flow of drugs is stopped, nothing will help stop the opioid epidemic. The supply has to be cut off, but Democrats don’t want to approve the measures necessary to cut off much of the supply of drugs. If Trump and congressional Republicans realized this, they could public and place the blame where it firmly belongs – on Obama and the Democrats.
