Reversing Type 2 Diabetes Naturally

Most type 2 diabetics become that way because of their diets and lifestyles. Sometimes it can be genetic, but even then, the genetic tendency to develop the disease can be avoided in many cases by simply watching one’s diet and activity.

Did you know that in the United States today, about 1 of every four adults over the age of 65 has type 2 diabetes? For all ages, nearly 10% of the US population has type 2 diabetes. Each year, there are about 1.4 million new cases of type 2 diabetes diagnosed each year.

Worse yet is that millions of Americans are totally unaware that they have type 2 diabetes. My older brother’s wife didn’t know she had diabetes until it was too late. One day, she went unconscious and my brother called paramedics. She was rushed to the hospital but she died. They said she had slipped into a diabetic coma and that it was so bad that they were not able to reverse it and save her.

Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death among adults. If not being the direct cause as in the case of my sister-in-law, it often leads to heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, liver failure, blindness, amputation of the feet and more.

It is estimated that the total cost of treating type 2 diabetes is around $300 billion a year.

Many type 2 diabetics end up taking medication for the rest of the lives, and many of these medications have their own side effects that can be harmful in some people.

Type 2 diabetes is frequently brought on by gaining too much weight and eating many of the wrong foods. That is what happened to me.

I’ve heard people say they don’t eat a lot of sugar and then wonder why they developed type 2 diabetes. They often don’t realize that it’s not just sugar that can lead to or cause diabetes. Many fruit juices are high in natural sugars and can be a problem. Additionally, regularly eating breads, rice, potatoes, pasta and other starchy foods can help lead to diabetes.

Most people don’t realize that starch is just a large group of sugars that combine together. When you eat starchy foods, the body breaks down the starches into sugars which then affect your system.

Most doctors will tell their patients to lose weight, get more exercise, eat the right foods and limit how much you eat. Does it work?

Check out this report:

“Type 2 diabetes can be reversed by going on a low calorie diet, new research shows.”

“Consuming just 600 calories a day for eight weeks can save the lives of millions of sufferers of the preventable condition.”

“Newcastle University scientists said that excess calories lead to a fatty liver, which causes the liver to produce too much glucose.”

“The excess fat is then passed to the pancreas, which causes the insulin-producing cells to fail and thus causing diabetes.”

“Losing less than one gram of fat from the pancreas can re-start insulin production, reversing type 2 diabetes, the researchers found.”

I’ve seen this happen with myself. A year ago, I lost 80 pounds, started exercising every day and limited my intake to about 800 calories a day. I also began doing something I said I would never do and that’s reading product labels and looking for the amount of sugar, fat, carbs and calories. My A1C – the measure of degree of diabetes, dropped from 11.5, which is extremely high, down to 5.2 in 5 months. Anything 6.0 or over is considered diabetic. If I am able to maintain an A1C below 6.0, chances are I could stop taking the medication and no longer be regarded as diabetic.

I know it’s hard to only eat so few calories and it is something I still struggle with and am not always good at, but in the long run it’s worth the sacrifice for a longer and healthier life.
