When most couples get married, their sex life is great. They are often more in lust than in love, but in time, that lust loses its luster and the sex life is no longer what it was. Sadly, because so many couples don’t understand that love is an action, not a feeling, once the luster of the sex life dulls, they end up splitting up and going their separate ways.

Another factor that can lead to undue pressure on a couple’s sex life is the desire to get pregnant without immediately results. We live in a society of instant results and gratification and when those instant results don’t manifest in a pregnancy, it often puts stress on the relationship and that stress can actually hinder not only the sexual relationship between the two, but it can negatively impact the ability to get pregnant.

We’ve often heard reports of certain foods, like raw oysters being some form of aphrodisiac and while many believe it more of an old wives’ tale, there may a little something to it. However, there is another type of food that researchers say can make a difference in both the sexual desires between the couple and their ability to get pregnant.

What is this sex life and fertility boosting food?

One study reports:

“In a study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, researchers analyzed 501 US couples and found those who consumed two or more servings of seafood a week not only had a major increase in their time between the sheets—having sex more frequently—but also got pregnant easier. In fact, after the yearlong study, 92 percent of the seafood-eating couples were pregnant compared to 79 percent who ate less seafood.”

Audrey Gaskin, author of the study is from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston. She commented on the study:

“Our study suggests seafood can have many reproductive benefits, including shorter time to pregnancy and more frequent sexual activity.”

In fact, their study showed that couple who ate seafood more than twice a week averaged 22% more sex. As for helping with pregnancy, they found that 92% of the couples who ate seafood at least twice a week got pregnant by the end of the study while only 79% of those who didn’t eat seafood that often got pregnant.

The researchers believe that eating seafood helps improve the quality of the semen in men, helps with ovulation and the quality of the embryo in women.

Some skeptics believe the results may have been due to the couples who eat more seafood also eating healthier diets in general, but that’s an assumption not made on any facts or data from the study.
